I've never been overwhelmed at a Smith & Wollensky. Basically, it's a chain steak restaurant that charges more than an Applebees or Houston's would. The service I have received ranges from horrible & rude to friendly & a little too casual. I think they dry-age their beef now, as they used to use a wet process. Don't quote me on this, though. As for flavor? Mediocre, really. Their seafood app, the one you order per person, is an impressive sight, even if some of it is quite bland. It's been a while since I've been there, but I recall the caviar at least being delicious. And if the caviar in an appetizer is the best thing at a restaurant that is supossed to be known for it's steak, well, that's not a good thing. - Leslie , posted 02/24/06 |
