M-Pyre...er, no
I'm sure I would love the place if I skipped two meals a day and had coffee and cigarettes for the other one. That sounded bitchy, yes, but really, they need to look at having a more broad range of sizes. Also, I was literally stared at by the cashier as if I didn't belong in the store. Sorry, but that kind of behavior is not likely to get me to shell out my hard-earned cash. Wish I could say I like you, M-Pyre, because I know you're a local joint and I like to support the locals, but you need to branch out size-wise and work on the attitude before you're getting any of my dough. - Kapaali , posted 08/09/05

Filled with Attitude and not just the good kind
Though I love the styles they carry there is nothing in this store for anyone above a size 2. Not to mention the person behind the counter looked at me with an attitude that said "what are you doing in here?" If I wanted that kind of attitude I would have gone to the Gap. - Grace , posted 07/12/05

M-Pyre is a local's store...
M-Pyre is a locally owned store located on Magazine street near the corner of Napoleon (landmarks- Popeyes's, Ms Maes and Mona's)

They sell mostly alternative clothing and acessories, generally the kind of stuff that would appeal to any body who goes out clubbing or is into well, the darker/brighter side of life... meaning, pretty much everybody. They carry quality merchandise at reasonable prices.

Like the type of stuff sold at Hot Topic but can't stand cookie cutter pre-fab mall nightmares? Or how about the stuff at Gargoyel's... only smaller and WAY less expensive...

At the moment M-Pyre is still growing, but they are quickly increasing their stock to include many of the brands that the customers requested... they even carry some Writhe and Shine stuff!

The best part about M-Pyre isn't their location (right on a bus line) or their merchandise (including consigment and one-of-a-kind items). It isn't even their awesome art gallery and unique ambiance... it's the indoor and out door seating and their refreshments.

Where else can you sit down and drink a good (cheap) cup of coffee while checking out the merchandise? Well... there prolly is someplace that sells drinks and clothes... but no place as comfortable and fun as M-Pyre... And no place can boost the music selection always playing there... not even our local clubs (bars)

The current employees are all local's who are active members of the local music/club scene. So you can bet on helpful information and style advice. Theres also a really great selection of random flyers, stickers and zines so you can find out what's gonna on in New Orleans.

The link i posted is to the info page of M-Pyre's Live Journal Community. It has there direct store site on it to (where you can browse some of the merchandise and even purchase online) as well as posts about the current sales and new merchandise that has arrived. And you can even posts questions and ideas about merchandise they should carry or things you are looking for!

If you haven't made it to M-Pyre yet. Stop by and check it out! And if you haven't been there since they opened, give them another look because they have WAY more stuff now!

Tell them Fidget sent ya! - Leigha , posted 02/04/05
