Good for lunch or dinner, adults, children
The Asian Pacific Cafe is a great dining resource. The food is ecclectic Asian with a definite New Orleans influence. The sushi menu is the best I've ever seen. All of the ingredients are fresh and local. The blue crab is wonderful as an entre or in the sushi roll. Seating is inside of the historic old house or on the patio. For those who imbibe, there is a fine wine list, Sapporo beer and a nice saki selection. Iced green tea, miso soup and the Asian Pacific Roll was about $10.00 and the best lunch I've had this year. - Mona , posted 08/22/08

closest sushi to home!
I like them because they're super close to home, so it's easy to order take-out from there. Although since they have been cash-only lately, that's still kind of a pain in the ass. I've never really had any complaints about their sushi. The one time I had something like the sesame chicken though, it was pretty unappetizing. Probably not the best ever, but sometimes proximity wins over quality. - Unsubscribed , posted 03/16/06

High on presentation, low on everything else.
After the NOMA re-opening a couple of weekends ago, we tried to grab a spot on the check-in list at Lola's before they opened. Unfortunately, it's cash only, and we had to lose our spot while we searched for an ATM in the area. So we decided to try Asian Pacific Cafe, right down and across the street from Lola's. I really wish we would have ventured elsewhere, as we were not all too happy.

Our plates were high on presentation, and good to just plain nasty in every other aspect. I ordered the tempura & sushi entree. I was pretty happy with what I got, so I can't complain there. My man got something similar and thought it was good, I think. We ordered a sesame chicken appetizer for our daughter and it was FRIED to a dark, greasy mess. Our friend got beef teriyaki, I think, and did not like it at all.

Since we had been out all day and were pretty thirsty, we ordered soda, which came in a can. We were not aware of this until it was served. Sodas are $2.00 each. We should have just ordered water instead of paying a total of $14 for soda. Service was "eh"; she seemed a little bothered by us at times, which was really odd, considering we were the only table in the place. The gnats flying around were not that appetizing. As you can see by the picture I posted, they present a pretty dish. I just wish everything else had been as nice. - Leslie , posted 03/16/06
