Eh, just lost interest...
Changed a little too much over the past couple years. They need to stop it with the potato chips. If I'm paying close to ten bucks for a burger, it really should come with fries/pasta salad at the very least. At one time it was unlikely that I'd go anywhere else if I'm out late at night in the Quarter and needed food. But now, eh, whatever. I'll give it a three for nostalgia's sake, though if I were to have only known Angeli over the past year, I'd probably rate it a two. - Brian , posted 03/19/07

garlic bread
Okay, I'll admit it. I ate almost a whole order of their garlic bread last night by myself. Yummy stuff. Angeli is pretty good, but nothing spectacular. And now they won't let you order the pasta salad as an optional side instead of chips or something....you have to get a separate order of it. :( - Unsubscribed , posted 03/12/06

i still love it
I've read the other reviews here. I, too, have been going to Angeli for years. I have noticed subtle changes (and a markup of prices) but I'm still happy with the food and the prices. Where else can three friends eat well for under $20 besides Taco Bell? I haven't experienced bad quality food at Angeli, ever. Maybe I was lucky. - Kapaali , posted 04/19/05

Longing for the old Angeli
Angeli was the place everyone went for good food anytime of the day or night. It was known not to step foot in the joint during Mardi Gras, when prices were jacked up, menus were limited and you ate with plasticware. I used to eat there probably at least once a week, but the service and food went so far downhill, I stopped altogether.

Most who used to frequent Angeli will agree that it is no longer worthy of the best late night food joint. - Leslie , posted 04/02/05

A once favorite has gone sour...
And it isn't just the lemonade...

Angelis used to be the hot spot... Every weekend when out partyN, that's where we stopped at... They had this awesome spicy chicken and pita appetizer, the best cheesy bread EVER. and pizza that would make your mouth water...

the key word tho... is USED to. they suck don;ey balls now. I heard new ownership has taken place... they've kept the same menu (and jacked up prices that occured a few mardi gras back)

But their Lemonade is now disgusting... un drinkable... The cheesy bread is little more then potato chip thin crust... and the marinara to dip it in is flavored funny... The pizza was gross beyond all words... all the toppings were squished into the center.... the roasted garlic wasn't, the eggplant was soggy... ughh... i'm getting naseous just thinking about it...

i cry on the inside as i type this. I would like to say it was just a fluke... but after talking much about the event with everyone who would listen, i've discovered that we all concur. Angelis is no longer worth the money... it wasn't worth what they charged us, even after we complained and they gave us a fifty percent discount. which i was tempted to b***h about more, because we didn't even come close to eating 50% of our food.

we did however insist on a to go box... which stunned them... but i explained we were going to drop it off to the homeless kids hanging out down the street that we had just been talking to.

My suggestion... if you have no memory of what their food used to taste like... you'll prolly enjoy it... but if you do... eat across the street at Mojo's or order from the Verti mart and sit at the bar and eat. - Leigha , posted 02/04/05
Price range was very affordable
I cant remember the address, but the place is called Angelis and it is right down the street from Gargoyles on Decatur.

Price range was very affordable, in the $5-$10 range, as I recall, and it has a casual, artsy feel to it.

They serve pizza, pasta and sandwiches, the meatball or portabella both being their two best sandwiches.

Angelis is the best cheap place to eat in all the Quarter. Most resteraunts there seem to serve mediocre food at inflated prices, like any other touristy place. Angelis serves really good food at a nice price. - Ivan , posted 11/26/03
